At the age of 17, I was asked to help a mother with a set of triplets. Each of the three boys displayed differing levels of behavior issues. Through this experience, I discovered that my passion is to help children learn, grow, and develop in a positive manner. Most of all, I wanted to learn and understand how to help bring out the best in each of them.
My name is Megan Dare and for the past 20 years I have worked with children from ages 18 months to 18 years old. I have a degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master's degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. At UT Austin, I focused on Early Childhood Education and Autism. I became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2010.
My experience includes: working with clients that are gifted; twice exceptional; diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders; and developmental and genetic disabilities. I also have experience working with children and families regarding toilet training, communication issues, picky eaters, and independence with self-help routines such as hygiene and homework.
My practice, while focused on the child's development and independence with self-help routines such as homework and chores, also includes coaching parents on implementing strategies to promote harmony and collaboration within the family. I absolutely value a "whole family" approach to services.
I have lived in Colorado since 2013 and enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, bird watching and being with my husband and dog, Mocha. I volunteer in my community and work in organizations with "Sensory Friendly" events. I partner with the Butterfly Pavilion, WOW! Children's Museum, the Lafayette Library, the Denver Art Museum, and the Children's Museum Denver.
